Spray Foam Removal

Professional Spray Foam Insulation Removal in Redditch

Spray foam insulation was once promoted as an effective way to improve energy efficiency, but many homeowners are now discovering that it can cause problems with their roof, particularly when selling or remortgaging their property.

When applied directly to roof timbers or roofing felt, spray foam can restrict ventilation, conceal structural defects and potentially trap moisture. This may lead to timber deterioration and make it difficult for surveyors to assess the condition of the roof.

Common reasons for removing spray foam insulation include:

Mortgage difficulties – Some lenders are reluctant to approve mortgages on properties containing spray foam insulation.
Hidden roof damage – Foam can conceal damp, timber decay and other roofing problems.
Poor ventilation – Incorrect installation may restrict airflow and increase the risk of condensation.
Property sales – Spray foam can complicate surveys, valuations and the selling process.

At Longbridge Cladding & Roofing, we offer spray foam removal services throughout Redditch, Longbridge, Bromsgrove and surrounding areas, helping homeowners address these concerns and restore access to their roof structure.

Safe Removal of Open-Cell & Closed-Cell Spray Foam

Not all spray foam insulation is the same. The two main types, open-cell and closed-cell, have different properties and require different approaches to removal.

Open-cell foam is generally softer and more flexible, making it easier to separate from roof timbers. Closed-cell foam is denser and bonds more firmly to surfaces, which can make removal considerably more challenging.

Our approach takes into account:

Type of insulation – Identifying whether open-cell or closed-cell foam has been installed.
Roof construction – Assessing the condition of the rafters, roofing felt and surrounding materials.
Removal methods – Selecting an appropriate method to minimise unnecessary damage.
Timber inspection – Checking exposed roof timbers for signs of damp, decay or deterioration.
Waste removal – Clearing away the unwanted insulation and associated debris.

Removing spray foam requires care, particularly where it has bonded directly to roofing membranes or timber surfaces. Some roofs may need additional repairs or replacement materials once the insulation has been removed.

Roof Repairs & Restoration After Spray Foam Removal

Removing spray foam insulation is often only part of the solution. Once the material has been cleared, previously hidden problems with the roof structure may become visible.

Moisture damage, deteriorating roofing felt or damaged timbers may require attention to ensure the roof remains weatherproof and structurally sound.

As an established roofing company, Longbridge Cladding & Roofing can assess the condition of your roof and advise on any necessary remedial work, including:

Roof timber repairs – Addressing damaged or deteriorating roof components.
Roofing felt replacement – Assessing the condition of the rafters, roofing felt and surrounding materials.
Roof repairs – Repairing affected tiles, slates and other roofing materials.
Roof replacement – Providing a new roof where extensive deterioration makes repairs impractical.
Ventilation improvements – Helping ensure the roof has suitable ventilation to reduce condensation risks.

Whether you’re experiencing difficulties selling your home, have concerns about trapped moisture or simply want your spray foam insulation removed, we’re here to help.
